Shot in a disused squash court with a young models, mostly unaccustomed to horses, this shoot was inspired by images I had seen of Irish horse culture and how the horses become accepted family members, often sharing domestic spaces. Horses in their natural outdoor environments always have that unmistakable sense of freedom, strength, and grace. However, photographing them indoors adds a layer of intimacy and contrast to the visual narrative.
Noah, then an electrician and street-cast by Menace Models, had never been near a horse in his life let alone sat on one. I had to work with an experienced horse who was used to unusual experiences. Juno was selected and didn’t freak out going through the narrow door into the squash court.
